Farmers’ Market success

The Spring Farmers’ and Craft Market was a great success on Sunday the 22nd May.  Saturday evening’s torrential rain threatened to dampen proceedings but the weather was kind and the sun shone for most of the day.  Traders and public enjoyed an excellent day.  With 50 stalls offering a variety of locally freshly cooked food and hand crafted goods –  food ranged from burgers, hog roast and pizzas to Caribbean food, pies, cheeses, pickles, chocolate brownies, fudge and much more.  There was a real ale stall to help wash the food down.  There were numerous craft stalls selling home made chocolates, candles, cards, jewellery, clocks and other goods

The crowd were entertained by HarHarthill Morristhill Morris men and Pete Gray, a local musician from the Dronfield based folk group Scuppered.  Thanks to everyone who attended.13244161_525429084308230_6194312745657104150_o

New Changing Rooms in use.

We are pleased to announce that the new sports changing rooms are now finished, and have been brought into use for the new cricket season.

The area consists of two modern changing rooms complete with spacious showering areas, a separate officials changing room with shower, and both ladies’ and gent’s toilets.

Built to equal or exceed the recommended changing space for football, cricket and rugby teams, the building replaces the tired and outdated facilities contained within the main hall building.

The extension has been designed and planned by the board of management and has been entirely self funded by the Sports and Social Club.

New Kitchen under construction

A superb new kitchen area is being installed at Ridgeway Sports & Social Club.

The kitchen has been designed to offer modern catering facilities as well as increased space. There are stainless steel units and worktops, a commercial cooker and a quick turn-round dishwasher. These will benefit existing users of the hall, as well as making the whole building more desirable from a hiring point of view.

The new kitchen is now well under way, and is likely to be in operation alongside the existing one for the forthcoming Ridgeway Carnival on the 10th July.

Once the new kitchen is commissioned and tested, the old kitchen will be removed, and the space remodelled to make space for tables and chairs etc.
